Mr. Robert Catten

Mr. Robert (Rob) Catten is a reflective, purposeful, and enthusiastic lifelong learner and servant leader. He cherishes opportunities to lead school communities and to create opportunities for students, educators, and families to achieve successful outcomes.

Mr. Catten taught high school English in three schools totaling 12.5 years. This experience included approximately four years in each of the following school districts: Prince George’s County Public Schools, Dysart Unified School District, and Phoenix Union High School District. Mr. Catten followed his teaching experience by becoming an assistant principal and a principal in the Roosevelt Elementary School District in Phoenix, AZ. He changed from traditional school to charter school leadership in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. He served the Riverbend Prep community in Laveen, AZ until 2022 before returning to the East Coast with family and serving as the CEO at Lincoln Charter School in York, PA.

Mr. Catten earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English with a Minor in Spanish from the United States Naval Academy. He earned his Secondary Education certification from Catholic University, and his Masters in Educational Leadership from Walden University. Mr. Catten continued to learn and grow professionally through additional certifications and opportunities as an AVID instructor, AZ General Post instructor, OSHA trainer, CPR and first aid trainer, and AZ telemedicine trainer.

Prior to becoming an educator, Mr. Catten completed his Navy Supply Corps credentials in Athens, GA, and served as a naval officer in Norfolk, VA between 1994 and 2001. After his honorable separation from service in 2001, the tragedy of 9/11 refocused his career aspirations. Mr. Catten pursued a childhood desire to serve communities by becoming a teacher. He served as a teacher, trainer, and an administrator for 20+ years in Maryland, Arizona, and Pennsylvania.

Mr. Catten is married and has three daughters. He enjoys spending time with family and traveling. Mr. Catten eagerly anticipates learning about and growing with the Bulldog community at West Point Middle School.
